SAVORING THE LAST SIPS OF AUGUST

August wraps the garden in golden light—sun-warmed herbs releasing their scent at the slightest touch, bees humming lazily over late blooms, and evenings just starting to whisper of autumn. It’s the perfect time to capture summer’s sweetness in a glass before the season turns.

Recipe: Sparkling Lemon Balm & Mint Cooler

A bright, refreshing herbal drink to calm the mind, uplift the spirit, and keep you cool through summer’s final stretch.

You’ll Need:

  • Sparkling Lemon Balm & Mint Cooler – Easy DIY Herbal Summer Drink Recipe

2 cups fresh lemon balm leaves (Melissa officinalis)

  • 1 cup fresh spearmint leaves (Mentha spicata)

  • 4 cups hot water

  • 3–4 tablespoons raw honey (to taste)

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • Sparkling water

  • Ice & fresh herb sprigs for serving

To Make:

  1. Place lemon balm and mint in a heatproof jar or pitcher.

  2. Pour over hot (not boiling) water and cover. Steep 15–20 minutes.

  3. Strain, then stir in honey and lemon juice while still warm.

  4. Chill in the fridge until cool.

  5. To serve, fill a glass halfway with the herbal infusion, top with sparkling water, add ice, and garnish with a sprig of mint or lemon balm.

Herbal Benefits: Lemon balm soothes frazzled nerves and brightens mood, while spearmint refreshes and aids digestion—perfect for sipping on a slow summer afternoon.
